Dongle

Scada Software for people with other jobs!

SpecView Copy Protection Key or ‘Dongle’

SpecView software uses a ‘dongle’.

This is to aid with licensing and also to store details of the options that have been purchased.

Without the dongle attached, SpecView will run with limited functionality for 10 minutes, or can act as a Remote SpecView indefinately.

Using the dongle, we can quickly and easily upgrade users if they need extra functionality in the software - it is done by a system of codes and does not require any physical shipment to upgrade.

Two types of Dongle are available:

USB port - plugs into a spare USB 1.1 or 2.0 port on your PC

Parallel (printer) port - plugs into the parallel printer port (25pin female socket) on the PC. This does not interfere with a printer that is also attached to the port.

Due to the way in which the Software options are stored in the dongle, it is not possible to have a full version of SpecView without the dongle.
