There are two main ways in which an RS485 convertor work:

• Automatic Send Data Control
• RTS/CTS control

These control the way in which the convertor flips from transmitting to receiving.

SpecView DOES NOT control the RTS/CTS/DSR lines on the RS232 port, so any convertor that relies on these signals to switch from transmit to receive will not work.

Almost all B&B Electronics convertors use Automatic Send Data Control, where the direction of transmission is controlled by the convertor, not by SpecView.  Many other types of device also use this, e.g. KD485 ADE
