When enabling SpecView's Passwords on a project which uses ActiveX Controls it is important that the ActiveX controls are enabled at the appropriate level.

 

Although an ActiveX control which is intended for user interaction (such as a slider), will allow the user to operate it regardless of the password settings, the variable which is linked to it as the output will only be updated IF BOTH the ActiveX control and the output value is accessible by the user.

 

 

To select ActiveX controls with the padlock cursor, watch for the 'tick' appearing in the cursor as it passes over the edge of the control:

 

 

and that is when clicking will select it.
