It is possible for the boxes that SpecView displays, to be positioned off-screen, which means they are not visible.
This is because it is useful if SpecView remembers the last position of a box, so when it is opened again it appears in the same place.
However, if the last time SpecView it was run it was on a larger display monitor, then the box can end up positioned such that it is off-screen.
The Preferences box (accessed by choosing Preferences from the File menu) has a Settings tab which allows the position of most boxes to be reset:
However, not all boxes can be repositioned using this, for example the Strategy Controller box.
Therefore there is a trick in Windows that allows the position of boxes which are off-screen to be moved.
To do this, for example for the Strategy box, follow these steps - which will seem to do nothing until 'Step 5':
1. | Choose Strategy Controller from the Setup menu, this will ensure that the box has keyboard focus, even though it can't be seen. |
2. | Press ALT and Spacebar together. |
3. | Press M. |
4. | Press a cursor arrow key, such as the up-arrow key, once. |
5. | Now the mouse has control over the window, so now move the mouse around until the window appears. |
