There are 2 types of password systems in SpecView:
2. SpecView Networking passwords
SpecView passwords
These are setup on the Local and they control which user can click on what.
There are 5 password levels: Level 1 users are typically setup for minimal access and level 5 users always have full access.
So for example:
Level 1 - Operators
Level 2 - Supervisors
Level 3 - Managers
Level 4 - Senior Managers
Level 5 - Admin
But not all levels need to be used… typically a few Level 1 users and one Level 5 are enough.
SpecView Networking passwords are setup on the Local and they control which Remote users can connect and whether those Remote users have the ability to change values.
There are 3 levels of access:
1=Read-only
2=Read/Write
3=Read/Write and alarm acknowledge
If SpecView passwords are not being used then this is an easy way to prevent Remote users from setting values that they shouldn't, and acts as an extra level of protection if SpecView passwords are being used.
The Project (also known as a Configuration or Application) on the Remote is copied across from the Local, so whatever passwords systems and users are setup on the Local will be copied to the Remote when the connection is made.
