Processes can either be considered as 'continuous' or 'batch' processes.

 

For batch processes it is useful to be able to give names to the batches and to be able to find them at a later date to review the data, using the 'batch chooser' from either Historical Replay or Log Reports.

There are some settings in Trend Chart setup that are useful when displaying a batch on a chart - for example, on the Chart tab set Scrolling mode to None - rescale time to fit.  This will make the chart fit the batch.

 

It is also possible to add Automatic Chart Notes when a batch changes:

 

 

The BatchChanged trigger would be a Boolean User Variable that it set to 'On' when the BatchID changes using Strategy Controller.
