Some protocols (examples include Modbus, Red Lion and Yokogawa Green Series) do not provide the computer with information about decimal places. Therefore when SpecView auto detects instruments it will have to make assumptions, for example, it assumes NO decimal places for Modbus and Red Lion, and ONE decimal place for Yokogawa Green series.
Specifying the number of decimal places for Variables is done in a number of places:
For Instrument Variables:
The decimal places for instrument parameters are specified in the instrument definition:

Also ensure the instrument variables are using the correct scaling.
For any Variables being displayed on a GDW:
Select the value on the GDW, just the 'N/R' which may need to be un-grouped from its neighbor. Then use the Dynamic Attributes menu command from the Edit menu.
This will need to be done for EACH occurrence of a variable on EACH GDW.
In Log Report (CSV) files:
To set the default setting for the decimal places used for values in a Log Report Report DP on Preferences - Logging
This is detailed under Log Reports - Specifying decimal places
To set the decimal places in Log Reports for specific values (if the default setting above is not appropriate for a value), then use CVTSETTINGS.INI
On Trend Charts:
The decimal Places required for each pen are specified in the Pen Properties:

On Trend charts which are still in 'Version 2/2.5' format:
To display more than one decimal place for values on a 'Version 2/2.5' format Trend chart use Trend DP Override on Preferences - Runtime
In Trend Chart export to CSV:
The decimal places for the values in the CSV file created by selecting an area of a Trend Chart and exporting the values to a CSV file are always the full resolution of the value that SpecView obtained from the instrument. The decimal places shown in the resultant spreadsheet when loaded into Excel can be limited using Excel's column format.

In The Line Writer:
The default setting for decimal places for values written to a file using SpecView's Line Writer is specified using Line Writer DP on Preferences - Runtime
To set the decimal places for specific values written to a file using SpecView's Line Writer (if the default setting above is not appropriate for a value), then use CVTSETTINGS.INI
