General principles of Soft Licenses
| • | Soft Licenses eliminate the need for hardware license keys that can fail and get lost. |
| • | Soft licenses can be used where SpecView software runs in a virtual machine. |
| • | The user receives an installation code which is used to install and activate SpecView. This can be done in seconds if the computer is connected to the Internet. If no Internet connection is available codes are sent from another computer or smart phone to SpecView's web site, the returned codes entered manually into the SpecView computer. |
| • | The soft license may be moved to another computer at any time. |
| • | If the computer suffers a catastrophic failure, SpecView may provide a replacement license at no charge. |
| • | The SpecView program requires a Check-In process periodically to ensure the license is kept active. |
When SpecView is purchased the user will receive an Installation code.
The following steps are required to register and Activate SpecView:
| 2. | Run the downloaded exe file to install the program. We recommend using the default settings. Note, if upgrading from SpecView Version 2.5 then during install there will be a prompt to migrate configs. |
| 3. | Run the program by double-clicking the SV3 icon on the desktop. |
| 4. | Click the Enter License Code button on the opening screen. |
| 5. | Once accepted SpecView will automatically exit. |
| 6. | SpecView must be Activated within a few days, until then not all features may be available. |
| 7. | Run the program again. If SpecView has not yet been activated then the Activation screen will appear. |
Once activated, exit SpecView completely and run again to ensure all the license features are enabled.
Also, if upgrading from SpecView Version 2.5 then now is a good time to update the Trend Charts to Version 3 style.
