The file SV3.INI is a file of SpecView settings which is read by SpecView when it is started.

It is located in the SpecView installation folder, which by default is: C:\SV3\SV3.INI

 

There are also the files SETTINGS.INI and CVTSETTINGS.INI which also contain Project specific settings which are read by SpecView when the Project is opened.

These are in the Project folder, for example: C:\SV3\MyProject\SETTINGS.INI

 

The settings in these files can be changed from Preferences or manually by using a text editor such as Notepad to edit the file (carefully!) while SpecView is NOT running.

 

Be sure to check the spelling because they must be exact, and there must NOT be any spaces around the equals signs, or at the end of the lines.

 

The SV3.INI file can be deleted to restore the settings back to the values as they were when SpecView was installed as it will be recreated when SpecView starts if it doesn't exist.

 

Note: When making an Archive of a project to move to another computer there may be settings in the SV3.INI file which are important to the functionality, but which won't get included in the Archive. The SV3.INI file may need to be backed-up separately.
