A very powerful feature of SpecView is to record all specified actions made by the user in Runtime Mode. Any changes made to the connected instruments are logged.
Which events are logged is set up using the Event Logging menu command on the Setup menu
These are the default settings.
As of Version 3.1.233, Trend Chart Interactions such as adding or editing Chart Notes and Trend Chart Clear can be logged as well.
NOTE: there are separate settings available for the Strategy Controller. This is a very powerful tool for helping to debug complex strategy events and actions.
To view the Event list in Runtime choose Event Window from the View menu.
The event list shown will include all the events since SpecView went online was entered. If SpecView is closed or goes offline the current days events will be shown.
This window cannot currently be printed
To get a printable report of the events, convert any log format for the time span required, with the Include Event Log checked.
This will create a file with the same name as the log report, but with a filename extension of .CSE (i.e. Comma Separated Events).
Note that it is necessary to have at least one variable in the log report in order for the .CSE file to be generated.
Below is an example of a .CSE file opened in Excel:
NOTE: Alarm log reports are generated in a similar way, by checking the Include Alarm Log checkbox, which creates a .CSA (i.e. Comma Separated Alarms).
