No Response Value: N/R

N/R stands for No Respose. This is what is used to represent the variable's value in Edit Mode (offline) or

when the value cannot be read from the instrument in Runtime Mode.

Not Present Value: NPV

NPV stands for Not Present Value. This will be shown if the value isn't appropriate at this time - for example, if the Segment type is set to 'Time' then the 'Rate' value would be NPV.  Or if a thermocouple goes out of range.  If NPV is shown erroneously then set the driver command NPV = -1  (minus one) this will show the underlying value, instead of NPV.

Not Currently Available Value: NCA

NCA stands for Not Currently Available. All values are set to NCA when online before they are filled in, but those that have no values, such as PasswordUser when passwords are not enabled will stay as NCA.

Time Format HMSC: No Milliseconds

(Other options: 1 Millisecond place/2 Millisecond places/3 Millisecond places)

Whether or not to display Milliseconds in time variables.

Date Format: %b %d %Y

The % sequence used to format date variables, see below.

Date Time Format: %H.%M %b %d %Y

For the % sequences used to format date and time variables, see Date and Time Formatting.

Blank String value: [ ]

What is displayed when a text value is blank

Show scroll bars: Disabled

Enables/disables the displaying of scroll bars in Runtime Mode

Full screen mode in runtime: Disabled

Enables/disables Full Screen Mode in Runtime

Magic square size (pixels): 75

In the case where Full Screen Mode is enabled in Runtime, but without a button somewhere on the GDW which has the action: GDW Control: Toggle Full Screen Mode the menus are inaccessible. To resolve this there is a special invisible square in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen (this number of pixels in size). To use this magic square, double-click inside it, click once outside it and then once inside it again, all within a short space of time. Then return to Edit Mode and put a button somewhere on the GDW which has the action: GDW Control: Toggle Full Screen Mode.

Write Only Value: W/O

W/O stands for Write Only. This is when a variable can be written to but not read.

Timeout Value: T/O

T/O stands for Time Out. This is when a request for an instrument's parameter times-out over comms, for example if the instrument was switched off.

Recipe No Value: N/C

N/C stands for No Change. It is only possible to have one set of Recipe variables per GDW, but each Recipe can have many sets of values (Max 1295). However, not all of the variables will need to be set in each set of values, so this is what is used to indicate the variables which are not to be set.

Variables List:

Short Variable List: Disabled

This makes the Variable List only show the variables that are marked in the Short List column in the Variables List.

This is used to keep the Variables List to a manageable size and prevent access to variables that are not relevant or which may confuse the user.

Tooltip display time (secs): 30

To specify the number of seconds that tooltips are displayed for.

But it is better instead to set this from the Options menu on the Variables List itself and choose 'Tool Tips->Show Time'.

Show Full Parameter Address as Tooltip: Disabled

Shows the variable or parameter's address as a tooltip, this is particularly useful when developing a configuration for a new type of instrument to check the address of the parameter that SpecView is accessing against the comms manual for that instrument.

Window Positions

Remember Positions: Disabled

Remember Window Positions is used to display screens (GDWs) at specific coordinates, which can be useful when using multiple monitors.

Allow Minimize: Disabled

This is to allow the minimize button to be disabled. This is useful when using Remember Window Positions.

Delete All Positions: Disabled

This clears the saved locations of windows. This is only relevant when using Remember Window Positions.
